Memory is the ability to remember. Wikipedia
defines memory as a brain function that allows you encode, store and retrieve
information.
There
are different classifications for memory. Regarding
the explicit memory, that is, consciously remember something, the memory can be
short or long term.
Memory
can also be classified in relation to the organs: auditory memory, visual
memory, olfactory memory, tactile memory, tasting memory.
The
memory can also be classified by type: photographic memory, working memory,
episodic memory, semantic memory, musical memory, etc.
Let's
stop and explain what episodic memory and semantic memory are:
Episodic
memory: refers to remember events that have happened to you in the past,
places, people (and their names) of our family, work, social environment.
Semantic
memory is the ability to recall information learned before, that we have stored
in our brains, related to the general knowledge, math, science, etc., such as
remembering how to spelling, names of the authorities of
our country, Asian countries, etc.
